Toyota will pay to fix about 650,000 Prius models that have a coolant pump problem. The problem can cause the Prius to overheat and lose power, and is the latest in a long series of Toyota build problems and recalls. Competing models can be purchased from Ford Lincoln Mercury Cincinnati dealerships among others. The Toyota Prius had the “sticky accelerator” problem that later turned out to be more of a mechanical and driver error problem rather than a computerized problem. Toyota San Diego dealerships sell the Prius model and other models which ave still high quality vehicles and have shown to be reliable in the long run.
Toyota has worked hard to fix its problems with its vehicles as soon as it has become aware of a problem. Also check out Chattanooga Ford for deals on models like the Ford Fusion which has excellent build quality and has not had many problems in recent years. The Prius is the top selling hybrid vehicle on the market, and the cost of repairs for this problem is expected to total at around $100 for labor and part. Toyota will foot the cost of the repair which will total over $65 million for all of the affected models.
Priusmodels from the years of 2004 to 2007 are affected by the defect and the majority of the affected cars were produced in the United States. There have been no reports of accidents on injuries thus far for the affected vehicles. The pump that circulates coolant for the vehicle is the affected part. The electric water pump allows air bubbles to be let into the system which can allow the pump to heat up and then shut down. The bubbles cause the coolant flow to slow down which results in the heating up of the vehicle.
